This is a full-size gallery wrapped canvas reproduction of On the Square, Beneath Starry Skies.  It is the same size as the original commissioned painting that was completed in February of 2025 for the Oxford Garden Club.
 
On the Square, Beneath Starry Skies is a painting of the Greek Revival-style clocktower atop the County Courthouse which is located at the center of The Square in downtown Oxford, Mississippi.  The image of the clocktower is set at night and illuminated by the uplighting of spot lights; creating highlights and shadows that are in reverse of how it normally looks during the daytime.  The backdrop of of a colorful star-filled sky fills the canvas with even more light and supports the beauty of the this iconic building at the heart of our favorite college town.
 
The Lafayette County Courthouse clock tower, along with the rest of the building, is a significant landmark in Oxford, Mississippi, with a rich history dating back to 1872. The current courthouse was built after the original courthouse was burned during the Civil War in 1864. The clock tower was part of the design of the second courthouse, and it has been a prominent feature of the town square ever since.
